A Quick Note about CAPTCHAs

Although completely unreleated to Synthetic Lubricants, CAPTCHA images are used on forms in this site to help stop spammers and hackers.

A CAPTCHA is a program that can tell whether its user is a human or a computer. You've probably seen them — images with distorted text at
the bottom of Web registration forms. CAPTCHAs are used by many websites to prevent abuse from "bots," or automated programs usually written to generate spam. No computer program can read distorted text as well as humans can, so bots cannot navigate sites protected by CAPTCHAs.

Spammers and Hackers sometimes create programs that emulate internet users to surf the web looking for opportunities to send out SPAM using a vulnerable system or hack a site to get information.  A CAPTCHA makes it virtually impossible for these programs to read the text because it is distorted enough that only humans can read it.
